Blitzie's
Grand offspring:
|
| We knew she'd be special, being born on Christmas Eve 2004. Sired by GRC OldeChelsea's Apollo of Lijakae and from our CH Sarajen Silver Rain of Javacats, Blitzie was also our first Grand Champion female. She is a great big girl with excellent dense bone and substance, with a beautiful head, all topped off with lovely color and pattern. She is a very loving girl and has given us some kittens with wonderful affectionate personalities and we couldn't be happier with her. |

"Artie" Artie is our boy from Luna's first litter. He has been shown extensively since he was four months old and enjoys every weekend in the show halls. Artie is extremely affectionate and mellow. We love his big beautiful eyes, lovely head type with nice scoopy profile, deep chin and wide muzzle. He has his mother's lovely body length, height, boning and great big coat. These photos were taken at National Capital just an hour after Artie granded in championship at only eight months old.
Despite being only four months old when the 2005-2006 show season began,
Artie ended up as the
National Best of Breed Maine Coon Cat
and the
Twenty Fifth Best Cat in Championship.
Artie was also the eleventh best kitten and seventh best cat in
championship and best of breed Maine Coon Cat and Kitten for the
Southern
Region. We are very proud and thankful to
have this wonderful boy. |

"Simon" Born in an emergency c-section/spay after a difficult pregnancy, Simon was supersized from the beginning. His name ‘Steeped in Irony’ was a reference to Gina’s unfulfilled wish for a brown tabby boy. When planning the breeding between GC Javacats Tempest in a Tea Pot, DM “Blitzie” and GC GP RW Rickoons Rockford of Angtini (now of MacDuff), “Harley”, all Gina wanted was a brown tabby male with Harley’s exquisite classic tabby pattern and color. Mother Nature made the pregnancy as complicated and nerve-wracking as possible and then laughed again when the males were silvers and the females were brown. As the kittens developed, Gina and Ernie decided to keep the pretty brown tabby and white girl as their only breeding female and she grew up to be GC RW Javacats Jewel Tea Co. (the Southern Region’s twentieth best kitten in 2011). Simon was held to grand in premiership to help his mother earn her DM title. Gina and Ernie planned to place him in a permanent pet home as soon as he granded. Fate, however, had other ideas. |

Simon granded on the first day at Garden State-- his second show as a Premier-- but the perfect pet home had not yet materialized. He then accompanied his sister, who was in the process of granding in Championship, to the Foothills Felines show the first weekend in August. At that show he did quite well in spite the presence of several nationally ranked cats. After that show, his breeders decided to show Simon for as long as he enjoyed it. After that lovely start in August, he continued to do well. He blacklined three times, was the highest scoring Maine Coon in premiership at the Maine Coon Cat Club in November, and was the second highest scoring cat in the Tri-Cities Trifecta. Shown only in regions one and seven, Simon never flew to a show nor was he ever double entered. Simon did suffer through a handful of long car rides to the southern parts of his own region, occasionally accompanied by his friend “Lena” (GP NW Folie a Deux Helena of Spunkypaws) and his nephew GP Claddaghcoon Ltl. Nicky of Javacats, and his half sister GP Javacats Meteor Shower. But Simon was always happy at the shows, enjoyed stretching out on the sisal poles at the judging tables to show his immense size to spectators and he recognized and greeted his favorite judges. Simon’s last show, in Philadelphia, was especially bittersweet for Gina. Simon was a happy clown still (he made biscuits and purred so hard during his last photo shoot with Larry Johnson that he rolled off the table!) but Gina was sad to realize she would no longer be spending weekends with this exceptionally sweet boy. The perfect pet home had materialized; a dear friend with another Javacats Maine Coon had been counting down the days until the season ended. Simon now has a wonderful home with sweeping views of the entire District of Columbia area from his high rise in Shirlington Village, Virginia. Many thanks to the judges who made this possible and to our fellow premiership exhibitors. Tremendous thanks especially to Linda Murphy, who seven years ago arranged the breeding that gave Gina and Ernie Simon’s mom Blitzie and then two years ago kindly let us use the fabulous Harley to create Simon and his siblings. Simon’s wonderfully correct structure, exceptional boning, clear tabby pattern and sweet disposition are all gifts from Linda. Harley is also the sire of GP NW Angtini Nick Charles of MacDuff, “Nicky”, who is CFA’s Seventeenth Best Cat in Premiership this year. Simon and Nicky have made history as the first two Maine Coon neuters who are half siblings to earn National Wins in the same year. Harley is also the sire of GC NW TheCatHut Little Big Guy, Twentieth Best Cat in Championship in 2010. Harley joins a tiny group of Maine Coon males who have produced multiple National Winners and all of this is a testament to Linda’s generosity. See Simon's
